How PawsomeChoice works
We compare dog products across multiple stores, collect ratings from those stores, and surface the best picks. Here's how we do it — and how we make money.
Where the product data comes from
We don't hold any inventory and we don't sell anything ourselves. Every product on PawsomeChoice comes from a partner store via an affiliate network.
Networks we work with so far:
- Impact
- Awin
- Adtraction
- AddRevenue
- SaleGains
Each affiliate adapter pulls a product feed from the network, normalizes it, and writes it into our catalog. Feeds refresh nightly.
If a store isn't listed yet, it's because we haven't connected to it — not because we've excluded it.
Stores we show in your region
This list is generated live from our catalog — only stores with at least one active product link are shown. Click a store to see which products we list from it.
How we collect ratings
Ratings on PawsomeChoice come from the stores themselves. When a store shows a customer rating on its product page, we read it directly and attribute it to the store it came from (e.g. "4.6 ★ — VetZoo, 1,200 reviews"). When the same product is sold across three stores, you'll see three independent ratings, each labeled with its source.
We don't average ratings across stores into a single number, and we don't write our own reviews.
How we rank and feature products
"Featured" products on the homepage and the default ordering of products are produced by an automated scoring pass that runs once a day. Each product's score is the sum of:
- Multi-store availability — products carried by more stores rank higher. (Products from a single store still appear; they just don't get this bonus.)
- Price drops — when the current price is meaningfully lower than the recent reference price, the product gets a bonus. Tiny drops (under 10%) don't count.
- Review-weighted ratings — the rating is weighted by how many reviews back it, so a 5 ★ from 4 reviews doesn't beat a 4.6 ★ from 1,200 reviews.
- Freshness — recently updated products get a small boost so the catalog stays current.
Then we diversify by brand: when we pick the top 3, we avoid picking three products from the same brand when we can.
What's not in the formula:
- Per-store commission rates, sponsorships, or payments.
- Manual editorial overrides.
- A/B-tested commercial weights.
The same scoring runs for every region; we don't tilt the ranking by market.
How we use AI
We're open about this because it matters: AI helps us scale the catalog.
- Product descriptions, SEO meta, tags, and FAQs — written by an AI model from the store's source data. They're informational summaries, not opinions.
- Buying guides and articles — generated by an AI model with semantic search across our catalog to pick relevant products from the data. We review and correct articles on an ongoing basis after publishing.
- Product images — we use the store's own product photos. Hero images in articles may be AI-generated and are labeled as such where required.
We don't use AI to write or fabricate customer reviews.
How we make money
PawsomeChoice is funded by affiliate commissions. When you click through to a store from one of our pages and buy something, the store pays us a small commission. It doesn't cost you anything extra, and it doesn't affect our prices, the prices we display, or what you see at checkout.
What that means for our content:
- No paid placements. No store pays to rank higher.
- No "sponsored" products dressed up as picks. If we ever run a sponsored placement, it'll be clearly labeled.
- Commission rates don't affect ranking. The scoring formula above is the only thing that decides featured products.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data. (See our privacy page for what we collect and why.)
- We don't write fake reviews or pad review counts.
- We don't change a product's price or strikethrough price ourselves — we display what the store publishes.
- We don't take money to delist competitors' products.
